Dr. Robyn Magalit Rodriguez is currently a full professor, former chair and in-coming chair of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Davis. She is also the founding faculty director of the Bulosan Center for Filipinx Studies, the first of its kind in the University of California system focused on the Filipinx experience in the United States and diaspora. Professor Rodriguez is an expert on race and international migration. Her first book, Migrants for Export: How the Philippines Brokers Labor to the World (University of Minnesota Press, 2010), won an Honorable Mention for Best Book in Social Science by the Association for Asian American Studies. Alongside her books Contemporary Asian American Activism, Asian America: Sociological and Interdisciplinary Approaches, In Lady Liberty’s Shadow: Race and Immigration in New Jersey, and Filipino American Transnational Activism, she has published over thirty academic and journalistic articles.
